Karen Perl

In my most current work, street scenes of Chicago have been melting and morphing into dreamscapes. The blending of these two sources of imagery is where the story and meaning in my painting begins. I look for locations that are meaningful to me. Some represent places that are familiar, that I find comforting because I know them so well. Some I have already painted, or I have been planning to paint. They have a presence, undefinable, but somehow mysterious and evocative.
