The Umbrella Arts Festival is a celebration of Asian American art, music, dance, food and culture! The event is free and for all ages!
Join us for the 4th annual Umbrella Arts Festival at Fountain Square in the heart of downtown Evanston! This event keeps getting bigger each year, drawing more artists, vendors, and performances featuring cultures representing Japan, China, Philippines, Bali, Cambodia, Korea, India and more.
This event is designed to increase visibility and representation of the Asian American community, and to engage the community-at-large in art and cultural experiences that work to dispel harmful myths and narratives about Asian Americans. It creates opportunities to raise awareness, educating and engaging people in narratives that counter the rhetoric that fuels anti-Asian hate and violence. The umbrella symbolizes the Asian American diaspora which includes a diversity of ethnicities from over 40 countries around the world, and is inclusive of the many intersections of identities that exist in our communities.
