Evanston Art Center Presents: Finding Space & Other Stories

The Evanston Art Center (EAC) is excited to welcome the public to our upcoming exhibition, Finding Space & Other Stories. The exhibition will be on display from July 6–28, 2024, and will be free and open to the public.

Finding Space & Other Stories is a collection of mixed media assemblages in artist Michael Litewski’s ongoing series examining the societal state of “house and home” – and beyond. The exhibition explores having to leave home and witnessing one’s past amidst a backdrop of intercontinental migration, massive pollution from plastic overuse, and global political unrest. The search for belonging is a central theme, while individual pieces present their own narratives. Through varied approaches, Litewski presents the universal experience of moving forward while looking back, and of unpacking and re-examining once at a new destination; moreover, the exhibition reminds us that, despite adversity, “finding space” is often possible.
