Paul Wear

Paul Wear works primarily in acrylic paint on stretched canvas. In his work, he straddles the line between representation and complete abstraction. The blank canvas is covered with random and chaotic splashes and strokes of paint. Gradually, the image is drawn out of the chaotic early layers. Paulʼs approach to painting is almost sculptural in the building up of and scraping into the paints. Colors and textures are the vital building blocks of the paintings, as are the subtle spaces between the assorted shapes.
