Al Gabor

I enjoy using a flatbed scanner as a camera and taking pictures of flowers, fruits and vegetables. The shallow depth of field, the uniform scanner light and black background emphasize the subject’s structure and shape and the colors pop.

For more conventional photography, I like to walk alleys and streets and photograph patterns of color or patterns of light and shadows. I have lived in Evanston since 1990 and worked at Northwestern University from 1998 to 2020.
