William (Bill) Burlingham

I have lived and worked in Evanston for most of my adult life, pursuing photography as both a business and an art. I now dedicate my creative energy to book projects that explore the world around me in a very personal black-and-white style.

Some of my images are the result of serendipity, picked from the environment, instantly whole and complete. Others are like broken treasures that need to be retrieved, manipulated, arranged, and interpreted. Above all, they are questions, not answers. While some images may seem exotic, they are, in reality, moments captured in familiar places, often close to home. These samples are from my book The Question Is: Photographs by Bill Burlingham.
