Val McCune

Val McCune is a mixed media artist, teacher, and founder of Smart Art Studios, established in 2004, where she provided design services and custom artwork for hundreds of clients. Largely self-taught, Val earned a BA in Studio Art from Northeastern Illinois. Her art is deeply influenced by groundbreaking female artists, exploring themes of femininity, aging and empowerment through bold colors and storytelling.

Working with collage, acrylics, and spray paint, Val embraces personal expression and experimentation in her work. She has a strong commitment to share her love for art with the world by teaching students of all ages and abilities in diverse settings, from nursing homes to classrooms. Passionate about inspiring others, Val encourages people to see, find and embrace creativity in everyday life
