Susan Van Dam

I’m slightly obsessed with painting stripes. It started with painting what I called “roughed up rugby” which was inspired by the bold stripes and sometimes worn-out look of the shirts popular in the 80’s. The stripes on the sleeves of my brothers’ shirts from the 70’s popped into my head, too. And, I found that adding a coat of resin in the end can really take stripes up a notch! I also love geometric and simple shapes, especially circles and anything curvy. The endless combinations of shapes and color often lead to creating layered and quirky collages for me, and it’s so much fun. I truly find inspiration in almost everything I see around me, and I feel lucky to be able to see the world that way. Please visit my daughter’s online shop little fuss at littlefuss.com to purchase my select artwork and you can see more of my work on my website vandamcreative.com. I make colorful wool felt coasters and trivets, too! Those are also for sale on littlefuss.com.
