Lily Homer

Lily Homer (b. Chicago, she/her) is a multi-media artist creating installations, wall-hangings, and sculptures presenting confusing or paradoxical situations, neither entirely figurative nor abstract, but somewhere in between. Through the languages of embroidery, welding, lacemaking, and collage, her works sway between their own full configuration and their individual parts, between outline and contour, as a wrinkle indicates cloth. She calls on generations of family craftsmanship in textiles, jewelry, and furniture manufacturing to develop a visual language for her own experiences with disillusionment, contradiction, irrationality, Jewish diaspora, and hope. Homer. Through.

Homer has a BA in architecture from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, and an MFA in Fiber & Material Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has exhibited in Chicago, Berkeley, New York, and San Jose.
