Elizabeth Flatt

My first experience at painting was in 2008 – I joined friends for a “Canvas and Cocktail” evening. I then served on the Board of the Gulfport Galleria of Fine Arts in Gulfport, Mississippi for several years. In 2018, I moved to be near family and joined the North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) where I began painting in earnest, first with acrylics then finding a home in oil. North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) displayed my art in 2020. In 2021, I had a single artist exhibition for two months at Northfield Village Hall and the Village purchased one of my paintings which is currently hanging at the Village Hall. I participated in a juried Art exhibit at Oakton College Art Museum, 2022 and had two pieces of my art published in November 2022 issue of The Review Magazine. A juried selection of different pieces of my art has been displayed at Epiphany Art Center, Bridgeport Art Center and Zhou B Art Center, all in Chicago area. In June 2024, I had a single artist showing at North Shore YMCA in Northbrook.

With 300 years of ancestors living near the bayous of the Deep South, Happiness for me is anywhere in nature and reliving that ancestry through my art. As I reached my ‘Senior Years’ I have found my happiness lies in watching my granddaughters grow, and being able to freeze happy moments in time through my art.
