Ashley Wollaston

I’m an artist and a mother to a curious two-year-old, with a deep love for animals and nature. From 2008 to 2022, I had the privilege of working as a tattoo artist, a career that shaped much of my artistic approach. I paused my formal education in illustration when I became a mother, but I’m trying to find this new version of me with any small slivers of time I have leftover in my day.

My influences are a bit all over the place, ranging from the Ukiyo-e era of Japanese art and the works of Walton Ford and Audubon, to children’s books, religious art, and Korean folk art. These days, I work mostly in liquid acrylic, watercolor, and gouache, though I also enjoy painting on canvas with oils and acrylics when I can.

My art is a reflection of what I love: animals, the occult, and the stories that shape our understanding of the world. I’m always learning, and my journey as an artist is constantly evolving. For the first time in my adult life I have the ability to create art for myself, so I’m excited to keep exploring what that will mean for me artistically.
