The “Radiance: Works About Light” Exhibition at the Grove Gallery in Evanston, IL features luminous paintings and drawings made by Midwestern Artists. See artists’ responses to light in various forms: refraction, lasers, nocturnes and the inner light of powerful female figures. The works vary from surreal, imaginative figures to abstract fields of color. The artists have reflected on light in its various forms: warmth, frigid temperatures, subtlety and expressive qualities. The exhibition was juried by Sergio Gomez, artist and curator of the 33 Contemporary Gallery. He selected 20 paintings from the 250 that were submitted. The selected works vary in media: abstract oils, translucent watercolors, and shiny collage materials. Celebrate that the days are getting longer as we inch towards Springtime. Without light there is no form.
