Art Making in a Time of Crisis
February 16 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Throughout time, artists, musicians, dancers, actors, writers, and other creative people have used their talents in protest and resistance to tyranny and oppression.
At our program Art Making in a Time of Crisis, actors from the Wirtz Center’s production of February House will present excerpts from the musical, and a panel of distinguished artists and scholars will lead a discussion on art as rebellion, joy as resistance, and the very human need for self expression in times of turmoil.
Presented in partnership with Northwestern University’s Wirtz Center and Hive Center for the Book Arts, Art Making in a Time of Crisis is part of our Year of Joy and Gratitude Big Read programming, and attendees and participants will receive a free copy of Ross Gay’s Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude.*
Registration encouraged, but not required. Register for the event at this link: https://evanstonlibrary.bibliocommons.com/events/678fbcc61973a5f24dce9518
