He created his own style of art. He writes and produces his own music. He won Art Prize 2023 in Grand Rapids, MI and used the earnings to build his mother a home. He’s kind, thoughtful, soft spoken, and definitely someone you want to meet! @abdoulayecondeart is a self-taught visual artist and musician from Conakry, Guinea, known for his vibrant and culturally rich artwork.
His signature style, “Gnabassan,” blends elements of diversity and tradition, reflecting his Malinke heritage and experiences across cultures. Gnabassan represents the strength and beauty created through togetherness and is depicted in his work. His original paintings and murals can be found throughout Conakry and around the world – now is the time to be a collector. Abdoulaye is also a skilled multi-instrumentalist, playing the kora, guitar and djembe – writing and producing songs that celebrate resilience, hope, joy and the power of unity. You’ll have a chance to hear him play at the opening!
