A Body is a River: Art & Acupressure workshop

December 15 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

A Body is a River: Art & Acupressure workshop  Prepare for the lovely challenges of winter by understanding your body in a new way. During this 1.5 hour workshop, we’ll look for inspiration to rivers—how they move and change constantly, altering the bed in which they travel, just like energy and emotions moving through the body. A Body is a River will be facilitated by Alice George (artist & teacher) and Karyn Forman (acupuncturist and energy worker).  A Body is a River in an experiment in integrating some of the work going on at the Heartwood Center for body mind spirit; Alice is a member of the meditation sangha there and Karyn practices at Heartwood.  Learn more by clicking the links below.

Participants will learn from Karyn about how Chinese medicine maps the body and explore using their hands to apply gentle pressure to key points in the body, summoning energy and releasing stress.  Then Alice will provide prompts and materials for creating an art map of your body, leaving room for a variety of approaches and techniques. No experience with Chinese medicine or art making is needed. This workshop is free, with a suggested donation of $10.  Heartwood Center, 1818 Dempster, Skylight room. Alice George  Karyn Forman
