Jessica Park

Through a vocabulary of layers, colors, shapes, and composition, my works articulate a playful voice. Focusing on images of flowers, I have found them to be a particularly effective medium for my creative language to resonate clearly and successfully, due the organic nature of their shapes. Play is not solely the aesthetic outcome, but more importantly, a crucial part of my artistic process. I warm up my practice by simply laying down playful marks with paint on paper and putting them together like a puzzle to create my collages. These collages then guide me to making paintings onto different surfaces like paper, canvas and board. In the symphony of colors and forms, my artistic process becomes a celebration of the inherent beauty found in the unpredictability of play, inviting viewers to explore the harmonious blend of intention and spontaneity within each piece.
