ARTIST STATEMENT:  My art is that of a storyteller. Exposure and experiences with diverse people and lifestyles have all become the spring from which my inspiration flows. Always observing emotions, from the bold to the subtle, unspoken and uneventful – the true moments that feed our spirits, sustain our souls and ultimately define who we are.  My objective is to capture relatable emotions that tell a story – through portraits, or in my use of projected shadows as in the series “Gigabytes: Stored Memories” or the physical positioning of an individual.

BIOGRAPHY:  I was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri Public Schools, The Kansas City Art Institute (7-12 grade) and Drake University (BFA). I studied under the tutelage of German artist, Karl Mattern and later was mentored by Chicago artist, Calvin Jones. I spent over two decades in advertising agencies as an art director, executive creative director and fifteen years as a DGA commercial film director. Through it all, my passion has always been communication through visuals. My art is who I am.

EXIBITIONS:  Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza, Landsmark Gallery (Chicago), Susan Woodson Gallery (Chicago), Kuaba Galley (Indianapolis), Guichard Gallery (Chicago), The Paul Jones Collection, featured artist in the R.A.W. Fine Arts Alliance (Chicago), featured artist in the Gullah/Geechee Festival in Charleston, S.C. and Amelia Island, FL. Various solo exhibitions, including the ETA Arts Foundation (Chicago) and The South Side Community Art Center (Chicago). Winner of The Alice and Arthur Baer Award (Beverly Art Center – Chicago).
