A lifelong admirer of the visual arts, I became passionately interested in photography in 2006. I shoot almost exclusively in black and white, which reflects the visual aesthetic that best aligns with my own artistic sensibilities. I work with available light and concentrate primarily on abstracts, landscapes and street photography. I cherish going on long walks with a camera, looking for beauty, intrigue and magic behind the normalcy of life’s everyday scenes.
A great photograph has the ability to transcend its source material and create a whole new reality. All of the choices that the photographer makes, from the framing, to the point of focus, to the various edits performed after exposure, are done with a view to fulfill this reality. I find the magic of this process both highly motivating, and deeply fulfilling.
In this age of digital images, I feel it is more important than ever for a photograph to exist as a physical and tangible object. I derive immense enjoyment from producing archival fine art inkjet prints that will last for years to come.
