Linda Goad

Linda Goad is a lifelong resident of Evanston. She taught preschool locally for 25 years. One of her main intentions while spending time with the children was to encourage a love of nature. This was done through books, walks in nature and even her own photographs. “The children loved seeing photographs of nature up close: the centers of flowers, the faces of birds and squirrels and the veins in a leaf. It provided a focus for our neighborhood walks to spot these things in nature and to record what we saw.” Linda uses only natural light as she captures images of landscapes, waterscapes, sunsets and more. “I like to look for patterns and textures, light and shadows and nature’s pure colors. I do not enhance my photos digitally. The images you see in my work are straight from the camera.” Linda’s five children are scattered around the country and she enjoys visiting them and photographing the areas in which they live. She also likes to travel with her husband and they have recently made trips to Big Sur, Glacier Park, Montana and Kauai, Hawaii. “ many of my photos have been taken in Door County, Wisconsin where we visit at least twice a year.” Some of Linda‘s photos, such as Silken Waters, look abstract. They were taken with her long distance lens which she zooms in to produce a macro effect. “ I see photos wherever I go, a beautiful flower, and autumn leaf, the sun shining through the clouds, the ripples in a puddle or the shadows on a deck. I capture these images because they affect me viscerally and I want to share them with my viewers.”
