Laurie Kwo

In my own words…

My paintings are an extension of who I am, the places I’ve been and the things I love.

I’m inspired by the beauty around me and strive to capture a moment in time as a way to share my world with others.

Foggy misty mornings by the sea, surfers at the beach, the sound of crashing waves, magical sunsets, the graceful beauty of a palm tree blowing in the wind or flowers blooming in the garden are my sources of inspiration.

Currently, I’m interested in the concept of simplicity. I’m using rich bold watercolors to explore shapes and negative space.

Varying mediums and subject matter keep me engaged and curious which allows me to keep my work fresh and interesting.

Having worked in the corporate world, both in fashion and in interior design, it’s a privilege to be able to work full time creating art.

I have lived all over the country and now reside in Chicago Illinois.

My husband and I are empty nesters and are the proud “parents” of two golden doodle puppies.
