Erika Anderson
Chasing the light, noticing the details, contemplating the unexpected. With my camera, I capture what I see and how it makes me feel. I am drawn to light’s play across surfaces and the emotions evoked.
In 2020, I began taking sunrise walks with my camera. It has been restorative to be outside in the quiet and solitude, greeting each new day. My personal challenge has been noticing something new along the familiar route. A keen observer of nature, I focus on details to showcase a fleeting moment in time. I strive to capture unique perspectives and compositions at the intersection of land, light, and water.
My subjects include landscapes, wildlife, and architecture.
Born and raised in Evanston, I spent the middle part of my life in New England. I returned home to Evanston 2007.
Photography has been a lifelong love and hobby. Only recently, I began sharing my photographs publicly. My piece, “Halloween Cauldron” was selected for inclusion in the Sunrise Photography Exhibition and Fundraiser, curated by Ted Glasoe at the 1100 Florence Gallery in January 2021.
