A lifelong artist who grew up in Evanston, I’ve studied drawing, figurative sculpture, printmaking, and oil painting. Every medium is celebrated by illuminating the process to achieve each finished piece. Brushstrokes are revealed rather than smoothed away. Woodcuts unveil the intrinsic wood grain. Each medium’s essential value and freshness are celebrated; subject matter is simplified to showcase the feeling, the essence that I intend to convey.
In keeping with my interest in many mediums and processes, I’ve a varied professional art background including teaching figurative sculpture, founding a bronze tile company, DeniseSiegelBronze, that sold my bronze art tiles through tile showrooms nationally and internationally, and studying many art mediums through local classes and workshops.
I left the business of art to study art and learn other processes including etching, monotype, transfer printing, woodcut, and oil painting. The figure in gesture; experiencing the local landscape, still life abstractions and pure abstractions are subjects that I’m currently exploring and are shown here.
