David Garcia
This is digital photography with minimal edits and post-processing. I create all effects in-camera. I’m drawn to subjects and techniques that are beyond easy comprehension and the limits of skill, strength, and reasoning, to a place where logic and intent give way to intuition and feeling. My macro photographs are artifacts from these explorations: evocative documents of forces at play.
My early career was a journey through camera and lighting roles for feature films and television; an eye-honing apprenticeship to renowned food photographer Tim Turner; and as an experience designer and project manager for system-change studio Foresight Design Initiative. In 2015, I “retired” from commercial art and moved my family abroad to pursue a Masters in the Conservation of Easel Paintings from Northumbria University, UK. When I’m not making art in my own studio, I can be found extending the life of old-masters and modern paintings at Reanda Art Conservation in Chicago.
