Event Title: Evanston History Center Mother’s Day Walk Paint Out Prospectus

Evanston Made is thrilled to partner with the Evanston History Center during the 50th Annual Mother’s Day House Walk, May 11th. We are inviting plein air painters to compete for First Place of a Paint Out, hosted on the beautiful grounds of the Evanston History Center at 225 Greenwood St, Evanston, IL 60201. Painters are invited to capture the grounds and the Dawes House, en plein air.  This collaboration combines the efforts of the Evanston History Center and Evanston Made, to celebrate the unique beauty of Evanston’s built and natural environments.

Paint Out: 

Date: Sunday, May 11, 2025

Time: 10a – 3p, Awards at 4p

Location: Evanston History Center at the Dawes House, 225 Greenwood St, Evanston, IL 60201

Paint Out Schedule: Painters check in at Evanston Made tent between 9:30-10, check in closed at 12.  Painters at work on their easels, 10a – 3p. 

Turn in finished piece for judging (no frame required) by 3:30p

Award ceremony at 4p.

Paint Out Judging: winners will be judged and a First Place award (1 only, no ties) chosen by one judge as assigned. One submission per artist

Prize: $100 gift certificate to Blick Art Supplies

Participant Painting/Drawing Rules for participants of this competition: (note participants need to register online by May 9, 2025, at midnight. Each artist can submit one piece for judging, bringing the art to the judging tent by 3:30p.

Event basics for participants to be aware of:

• Stop by the Evanston Made tent for canvas/substrate stamping 
• Check in opens at 9:30a, must be complete by 12p, May 11, 2025
• Paintings submitted for judging must be painted en plein air from direct observation on the Evanston History Center property.
• All paintings submitted for judging will be sold through Evanston Made and will be subject to our 30% commission.
• Each Artist may submit one (1) painting for judging.
• Paintings must be original works executed with pigments: acrylic, gouache, Oil, pastel, tempera, watercolor. No digital art or working from photographs. 
• Artwork (unframed) should not exceed 24” in any direction. 
• Artists may “sell directly from their easel” during the event. Displays, booths not allowed. Artists are encouraged to bring small works to sell, keep 100% of proceeds.
• Art not adhering to these rules and restrictions will not be considered for judging.
