Two Urban Visions from Chicago Photographers Howard Hart and Kurt Kramer opens June 1 at Perspective Gallery
June 1 @ 12:00 pm
June 1 – 24 Perspective Fine Art Photography Gallery presents original urban visions from fine art photographers Howard Hart and Kurt Kramer. The show is a fascinating juxtaposition of collected works captured by the two arts as they roamed very different streets with their cameras.
Kurt Kramer focuses on smaller, more intimate environs of urban life, seeking out spaces that we often neglect to see in our daily routines. Through careful selection of viewpoint, timing, and lighting he has created visually striking compositions that showcase the beauty of these locations. Both color and black-and-white, all images were captured in Chicago throughout the last three years.
Howard Hart’s photographs emphasize quiet moments in public spaces in Spain, Hungary, Romania, Argentina, and Mexico. “I’ve long been intrigued that even the most minimal human presence – a lone individual, a quiet chat among friends, or a simple pair of shoes – can transform otherwise characterless, vacant spaces into stages for infinitely possible narratives,” says Hart. His black-and-white photographs highlight the quality of thoughtfulness and introspection suggested by the isolation of his subjects and the emptiness of their environment.
Two Urban Visions opens for viewing on June 1 with a public reception on Saturday, June 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Zoom Artists’ Talk with Q & A is scheduled for Thursday, June 15 at 7:00 p.m. The show closes on June 24.
