Preston Sturges Film Night

Enjoy a screening of The Miracle of Morgan’s Creek, a 1944 screwball comedy written and directed by Preston Sturges. The evening is hosted by Victoria Zielinski, Paul Barrosse & Dana Olsen, who will provide commentary and engage in lively audience Q & A. Sturges was the first screenwriter to win an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for The Great McGinty in 1944, and that same year he also received Oscar nominations for Hail the Conquering Hero and The Miracle of Morgan’s Creek. He also wrote and directed the comic film classics The Lady Eve (1941), Sullivan’s Travels (1941) and The Palm Beach Story (1942) -– all of which have been recognized on the American Film Institute’s list of the best 100 comedy films of all time. 8-10 PM March 18 at Studio5, 1938 Dempster St., Evanston.
