All countries tweak their national stories to make the past easier to explain. Ordinary people, too, sometimes shape history to their own perspectives. Historian Joyce Haworth will explore the role of not-quite-true stories in American history. She will discuss some longstanding “myths” and examine why they have had such staying power. She will also give you some reliable ways to test the things you hear, and get at the truth.
