Leopold Segedin: The Holocaust Series: Paintings & Drawings 1967-79

April 14 @ 8:00 am - May 30 @ 5:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

“Ever since I became aware of what happened to the Jews during the Holocaust—as a young Jewish art student in the generally disinterested, if not antisemitic, gentile environment of a university in central Illinois at the end of World War II—I have been disturbed by the problem of how an artist can give form to the horror of the Holocaust without trivializing it. From 1967 to 1979, I attempted to confront some of these issues in paintings and drawings.” —Leo Segedin

From 1967 to 1979, artist Leopold Segedin attempted to depict his thoughts regarding the Holocaust in a series of paintings and drawings called The Holocaust Series. Those images are presented and explored in this exhibition.

Join us for the Opening Reception on Friday, April 14 from 4 to 7pm.

The exhibit will be up until May 30. Gallery hours are 10am to 6pm, Monday to Saturdays, and 10am to 5pm on Sundays.
