Workshops
What A Relief: Simple Relief Printmaking Workshop with Jamie Thome
Make your own relief prints using simple styrofoam blocks, a ballpoint pen, and your imagination! We will explore basic relief printmaking during this two hour session, and you’ll take home an edition of your very own block prints. All materials provided. Hosted at 1100 Florence Gallery, Saturday, Feb 18, 1-3p, $25/each, tickets here
Gelli Plate Printmaking, Concertina Bookmaking with Socorro Mucino
The workshop will introduce you to printmaking. Art makers will create a “Concertina”, or accordion book using printmaking techniques using GELLI plates, acrylic paints and stencils.
Workshop Structure
- Introduction and examples
- Learn about GELLI plate printing on paper.
- Demonstration of concertina book making with a hardback
- Make a basic concertina book with a hardback
- Tidy up and share

StormPrintCity Printing Workshop
Join artist Russell Muits at his studio and make prints on paper or canvas from a variety of utility covers: Antique Water Meter, Chicago Water Access, or a New Orleans Water meter. Wear clothes that can get dirty and bring a tee shirt to print on. All other materials will be provided.

Cyanotype Print Workshop with Beth Adler
Learn printmaking basics you can do at home and walk away with your very own cyanotype! Learn how to make beautiful Prussian blue prints on paper using a UV light source in this 2 hour workshop. Each participant will have a chance to make a few prints to take home. Bring your own stencils, large negatives on film, cutouts, or objects that make a good silhouette that can press pretty flat, or pick from my collection. All supplies are included. Sunday Letterpress Soiree with Ben Blount
Join Ben Blount in his studio for a small group introduction to letterpress printing. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of letterpress printing from building a form to pulling an impression. You’ll learn how to mix inks, build a proper lockup, and print with wood type on a flatbed cylinder press. Each student will leave with multiple prints from pre-determined designs (i.e. you won’t be designing your own prints in the workshop).
