Artist Talk with Joyce Elias

Join Joyce Elias for a discussion highlighting the evolution of my Artists Weather Project. We’ll be talking about art, nature and inspirations at Evanston Made’s Pop-Up Gallery & Art Sale located at 832 Dempster St. Friday, October 21 / 5-7:00

“The project began when Joyce decided to embrace the harsh midwest winters and to incorporate them into her artistic practice. She photographs nature on a daily basis; then each photo is assigned the day’s weather colors and is posted on social media. These photos are the inspiration for her colorful paintings, collages, and wood constructions.

The Artist’s Weather Project has opened up some unexpected opportunities for Joyce. The project has included gallery exhibitions, a summer teaching position at Chicago Botanic Garden, and an invitation to show her work at The Chicago Climate Festival. Joyce is looking forward to expanding The Artists Weather Project through more gallery shows, artistic collaborations, teaching, and creating a much dreamed about community mural.”
