“Occupying galleries, streets and public spaces, artists have become a mainstream
voice with the power to lead discussion and play a universal role in climate discourse.”

-Olafur Eliasson

WHY?

As Earth Day reaches its milestone 50th Anniversary in April 2020, nature and the environment are faced with enormous challenges from loss of biodiversity, pollution, degradation of our ecosystems, and climate change. Art must join with science to personalize climate change and disseminate it to a wider audience.

How to get involved!

Call for Artists: We invite all Evanston Made member artists to participate with new and existing work supporting our objective for Art for the Earth.

Gallery openings, artists talks, business partnerships, workshops, demos, open studios and other ideas are encouraged. We would like public art, found object art and earth art to be components of the month’s events. We are also forming committees for event execution, so please email info@evanstonmade.org to volunteer, or email lizrcramer@gmail.com for specific questions or to brainstorm ideas.

We are in the planning phase and are open to all ideas. Since activation of store fronts and businesses is part of the plan, as well as galleries and art spaces, we want everyone included!

Submission forms (theme, size, medium) will be up shortly on the site so that you can let us know what work you would like included in our planning. This information will help make sure that Venues and Partners will be aware of what work will be available during April. If there is an education or awareness component to your work, artist talk, poetry, other, please include that information as well.

Opportunities to get involved: - Gallery shows- solo or group - Trunk shows or Pop-ups - Window Displays for local businesses - Day, weekend partnership with local businesses - Public Art, murals, videos, film shorts, etc. - Earth Art or Land Art- created with found natural objects - Artist talks, demonstrations - Collaborations with alternate spacesZ - Book readings, educational presentations, poetry - Workshops in any medium - Art for our Online Shop at evanstonmade.org/artshop - Help promote the programming for April - SUPPORT our Buy Art/=Plant a Tree fundraiser for the month of April.

We are suggesting a donation of $1 per piece of art sold during the month of April. Details of the program are listed separately.

We are currently forming Event Committees with artists and business owners. We are developing partnerships with Evanston environmental organizations, leaders and educators.

We want to collaborate with existing Earth Month initiatives and provide a platform for our Evanston Artists to create a month of art, awareness and action. Let's make the whole city come alive with Art for the Earth!

We’d love you to be involved! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see announcements.  If you're not getting our newsletters sign up here!
